Jesus had a sole purpose, and everything he did funneled into that purpose. This makes a good leader sometimes sound redundant.
I Want To Be Like Jesus In My Heart
There may be specific things God is calling us to pursue. What is God calling me to do here and now? Jesus led by silence.
He was silent in front of his accusers, bearing rejection and shame because he knew God was his ultimate defender. He was both strong and weak. This is probably one of the hardest things for us to do. We are tempted to protect our own reputations, our territories, our spheres of influence. Hmmm… preach to the choir! Jesus led with an eternal perspective on the here and now, especially when it involved suffering. Jesus has seen the result of his suffering and is satisfied. A good leader needs to be able to live it and point others to the hope of this truth as well. Jesus led in forgiveness.
The most powerful moment of his servant leadership is the scene on the cross when Jesus forgives his assassins. It will take nothing short of Jesus in you to respond in the way Jesus did. We are so weak and often so unable to respond like this. Because we are not perfect like Jesus, we will need to lead by repenting of our failures to others and in willingness to forgive even those who are not yet willing to repent.

Jonathan Landry Cruse Monday, Oct What is biblical soul-care? So how DID Jesus lead? He bore much responsibility. He needed time to pray and fellowship with the Father. He invested in a few disciples.
He delegated. He met physical as well as spiritual needs. He knew how to party.
He knew how to receive the service of others. He was not above touching the broken. He spoke truth. He made people hungry and thirsty for more of God. He lived on a mission. He did not defend himself. He forgave others even though they were unwilling to repent.

To confine them to a single page, repetitive or less-pertinent portions of the original message have been omitted, but these omissions, indicated by marks of ellipsis, have in no way distorted or changed the meaning of the original passage.
Most of the texts used at the beginning of the daily readings are quoted from the New King James Version of the Bible, but a few have been taken from the New Revised Standard Version because in these texts gender-inclusive language sets forth more precisely the meaning of the Bible writer. For the same reason, without making any change in Mrs. White's thought this book uses inclusive language where it is clear that Ellen White meant to include both males and females in a passage.
I want to copy the pattern. How exact in principle and upright in conduct was He! He gave no place to Satan when he was tempted.

How wide awake He had to be to discern the tempter's wiles. Oh, if we would only walk and work as Jesus worked, how strict would be all our transactions with believers and unbelievers; BLJ 5. How tender, how charitable, how meek and lowly of heart would we become, because we have learned of Him. How dimly we reflect the great glory of our Lord! We need to behold him more steadfastly, that we may be changed into his image. It is our hope and prayer that this book of devotional messages may help every reader reach the goal set forth in the words of this old familiar hymn: BLJ 6.
